In Dead Winger, a snarky teen dies and is offered 30 more days of life if he agrees to "donate" his flesh to a warrior angel - that's 30 days to get his shit in order, become a badass, and oh yeah....save his girl from Satan
Dear Agent,
Declan’s life got interesting right after he died. Six minutes after, to be exact. Minutes one and two were expected; minutes three through five, surreal; and minute six was occupied by two angels and a deal: Die now or get thirty more days of life to get your act together and be less lame. This was not a difficult choice. He was only 18, and life was decidedly dull. Yeah, there was fine print, always is—something about a warrior angel coming back with him, sharing custody of his body, and then getting his flesh at the end to fight demons on Earth or some crap. Whatever. All he knew was he wasn’t dead-dead. And if he had time, maybe he could find a way to stay that way.
But time moves faster than he hopes, and the 50/50 custody agreement with Marcus on nights and Declan on days gets jacked up as the two humorously navigate friends and family. Then, mid-deal, Declan meets Jordan, the unattainable girl he somehow attains, and Marcus meets the devil in disguise and unknowingly leads him home. Tick tock. To save his family and Jordan, Declan must choose. Will he suck it up and die early so Marcus can manifest and defeat the devil? Or will he make a sweeter deal with Satan?
Dead Winger is a dual-POV, YA Contemporary Fantasy novel with crossover appeal, complete at 110k words. It combines the voice-iness of Barbara Kingsolver’s Demon Copperhead, the dark, feisty humor of Neil Gaiman’s show Good Omens, and the positivity of Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist. Each chapter reflects 24 hours in the 30-day deal with Declan on days and the demon-hunting angel on nights.
